Specialized DBT and CBT therapy for adults struggling with intense emotions, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship difficulties, and complex mental health concerns.

You may understand what’s happening, but still feel unable to change it. I provide evidence-based therapy for adults and adolescents in-person and virtually Wilmington, Delaware and virtually throughout Delaware and Virginia. My practice specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, mood disorders, emotional dysregulation, personality disorders, relationship difficulties, and other complex mental health concerns.

I also provide specialized perinatal and postpartum therapy for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, and the transition to parenthood.

My approach combines evidence-based treatment with a warm, collaborative therapeutic relationship, giving you practical skills and strategies you can use beyond the therapy room.

Maybe you understand why you feel the way you do—but knowing why hasn't made it easier to change.

You may feel overwhelmed by your emotions, caught in cycles of anxiety or depression, struggling in relationships, or frustrated that the strategies you've tried haven't brought lasting relief.

Therapy can be different.

I provide structured, evidence-based therapy that combines the skills and strategies of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a compassionate, collaborative approach for adults and adolescents 16 and up.

My work is particularly focused on helping adults who experience emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, mood instability, identity changes in parenthood, personality disorders, and complex interpersonal challenges.

You Don't Have to Keep Doing This Alone

Therapy isn't just about talking about what's wrong. It can also be about learning what to do differently.

Together, we can work toward:

  • Understanding the patterns that keep you stuck

  • Managing intense emotions without feeling controlled by them

  • Building healthier and more stable relationships

  • Reducing anxiety and depressive symptoms

  • Increasing your ability to tolerate difficult emotions and situations

  • Developing practical skills you can use outside of therapy

  • Creating a life that feels more manageable, meaningful, and aligned with your values

My approach is structured and skills-based, but therapy should never feel clinical or impersonal. I believe meaningful change happens through a combination of evidence-based treatment, genuine connection, validation, and active collaboration.

Specialized DBT Therapy

I have advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and work with adults who may have struggled with intense emotional responses, relationship instability, self-injury, chronic suicidal thoughts, or patterns that have been difficult to change through traditional therapy alone.

DBT provides concrete tools for regulating emotions, tolerating distress, navigating relationships, and building a life worth living.

Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health

The transition to pregnancy and parenthood can bring profound changes in your emotions, relationships, identity, and sense of self.

I also provide specialized support for individuals navigating pregnancy, postpartum anxiety and depression, emotional overwhelm, relationship changes, and the challenges of becoming a parent.

My DBT-informed approach to pregnancy and postpartum mental health can be especially helpful when you feel emotionally overwhelmed and need practical tools—not just reassurance.

A Therapy Approach That Is Both Compassionate and Practical

You don't have to choose between a therapist who listens and a therapist who gives you tools.

You deserve both.

My goal is to create a space where you feel understood while also helping you develop the skills and insight necessary to create meaningful, lasting change.

I'm Alyson Nuno, MSEd, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor who provides evidence-based, compassionate therapy for adolescents ages 16 and up and adults.

I work with people who may understand why they're struggling but still feel stuck in patterns they can't seem to change. My clients often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or intense emotions, struggling in their relationships, or frustrated that the strategies they've tried haven't created lasting change. I also specialize in working with individuals experiencing depression, OCD, personality disorders, self-injury, and chronic suicidal thoughts.

My approach is both compassionate and practical. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel genuinely understood and accepted, while also giving you concrete skills and strategies you can use outside of the therapy room. Together, we work to understand the patterns that are keeping you stuck, develop new ways of responding, and build a life that feels more manageable and meaningful.

I have extensive training in evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I completed Level 2 and Level 3 Foundational Training through Behavioral Tech and have pursued additional Level 4 training focused on adapting DBT for diverse populations and unique clinical needs. This training allows me to provide structured, skills-based treatment while tailoring therapy to each person's individual goals, experiences, and needs.

I also have experience providing individual and family therapy, parent coaching, and group treatment, as well as consultation and support for loved ones who are trying to help someone who is struggling.

I earned my Master's degree in School and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania and am licensed in Delaware and Virginia.

I believe you don't have to figure everything out before reaching out. Therapy is a collaborative process, and my goal is to help you feel understood while giving you the tools and support to create meaningful change.
